If you have downloaded the zipped file of the lightroom plugin folder, you must follow these steps.

First, extract the downloaded zip file to a location where you want the plugin to reside. After you have extracted the zip file, you should have a folder named LrSuperKeys.lrplugin

For both Windows and macOS, a lightroom plugin is a folder containing all the files necessary for the plugin to operate. The extension of a Lightroom Plug-in folder is .lrplugin.

For LRSK, the plugin folder is named LrSuperkeys.lrplugin

Here we can see the contents of that folder.

Now in order for the LrSuperKeys application to communicate with Lightroom, Lightroom must be aware the plug-in exists. This can be done by either using the Lightroom Plug-in Manager or by moving the plugin folder into the default Lightroom plugin folder.

Adobe Lightroom default Plug-in Folders

Windows:
\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\LrSuperKeys.lrplugin

macOS:
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/

By placing the plugin in one of these default Lightroom folders, Lightroom will automatically detect and enable the plugin when Lightroom is opened. (Both the Windows and macOS installations place the plugin in this folder)

Lightroom Plug-in Manager

Open up the Lightroom Plug-in Manager by selecting the menu item File > Plug-in Manager

Press the Add button (bottom left) and locate the plug-in folder you downloaded and extracted. (LrSuperKeys.lrplugin)

Once you have selected the folder, you should see the plugin added to the list of plugins as shown above. You will also see an Enable and Disable button. If Enable is not selected, click on it now.

Start and Stop LRSK Plug-in

LRSK will automatically startup and shut down with Lightroom.

To manually start and stop LRSK, you can access the Lightroom menu items “Start LRSK” & “Stop LRSK” located under File > Plug-in Extras

For the advanced users out there, you can now enter your own custom change values for all of the sliders. To edit these values, click on the wrench icon located on the bottom right of the Speed Keys screen.

These values represent how much the slider value will change when either a Hotkey is pressed or a SpeedKey is used.

If you entered a new value, but wish to return to the default value, simply press the X button next to it. The default value will automatically be entered.

Select Background AI has been added to the Speed Menu and to the Masking Actions

AI Select Background has been implemented into LRSK.

You can activate AI Select Background from the Speed Menu and with Action Keys.

When creating Masking Actions, you can now choose Select Background.

For example, you may wish to create an Action Key that will select the background with the Burn Local Adjustment preset. This Action will darken the background for subject separation.

A toggle button has been added to the Speed Menu to enable/disable LRSK

Edit your existing Actions

Previously if you wanted to make changes to an Action Key, you would have to delete it and then recreate it with your changes.

There is now an edit button (wrench icon) so you can make changes to your Actions.

(macOS) Fixed scroll wheel issue to adjust sliders when using Logitech Logi Options+ drivers

For macOS users only. In previous versions of LRSK, the scroll wheel on some Logitech mice would not work in LRSK if the Logi Options+ drivers were installed. This issue has been fixed and works as it should.

Also, with the Logi Options+ drivers installed on macOS, the forward and back buttons are inaccessible in LRSK. Meaning, we are not notified of these button presses and cannot advance or go back photos in Lightroom. To mimic this, use the Logi Option+ software to map the forward and back arrow keys to the forward and back buttons on your mouse.

1 – Develop Presets can now be applied with Action Keys

Create your own shortcuts to your most used Develop Presets.

For example, with the new AI tools introduced in Lightroom 12, you can retouch portraits with a single key press by creating an Action Key to the new “Adaptive Portrait” develop presets or to your own adaptive AI develop presets.

2 – Enable / Disable SuperKeys with SHIFT+ESC

Superkeys can now be disabled and then re-enabled by pressing the keyboard combination SHIFT+ESC. This is occasionally necessary if you need to type into Lightroom’s fields or pop-ups when you have created and overridden your keyboard keys with custom hotkeys or actions.

Big improvements in how actions are created!

Selecting your action for an action key is now much easier using the new expanding menu.

Swap SHIFT key behavior for Hot Keys

In prior versions of LRSK, the SHIFT key would only make finer slider adjustments for Hotkeys. However, now you can swap this behavior and make larger changes when using the SHIFT key with Hot Keys. This option can be found under Preferences / Settings.

Other fixes

(Windows): Bug fix with CTRL key. With certain key combinations, LRSK would stop responding to key presses

(Windows): Bug fix where the “Copy” window would not get the focus when using a Copy action key

You now have the ability to assign individual keyboard shortcuts for adjusting Lightroom sliders up or down.

Shortcut keys can overlap with Speed Keys. This means the same key can be assigned as a Speed Key or shortcut key. (To learn more about Speed Keys, check out the FAQs)

Tapping a key will activate the shortcut, while on the other hand, pressing and holding a key will activate the Speed Key.

Lightroom Shortcuts / Actions

Since version 4.1 of LRSK, we have added the ability to choose from single key shortcuts or keyboard shortcuts in combination with the Shortcut Speed Key (tilde “~” key by default).

For example, pressing the Shortcut Speed Key with the 2 key ( “~” + “2”) will activate the keyboard shortcut to sync images with the prompt to choose which sliders to sync. However, pressing 2 by itself will sync the selected images without prompting you.

Our Shortcut Workflow

In our workflow, we like to slightly soften our client’s skin. So to do this, we have created a shortcut to the color picker tool with the soften skin preset selected. Now when we press “~”+”Q”, Lightroom will bring up the color picker tool allowing us to select a range of skin tones to soften.

Another common task that we do, is slightly brighten our subjects, to separate them from the background. All we have to do now to accomplish this is press the keyboard shortcut “~”+”A” and Lightroom will select the subject and apply the Dodge (Lighten) preset for us.

This prevents many mouse clicks and searches in the masking preset list, improving our workflow and reducing our editing time in Lightroom.
